Got some questions?
FTTH means Fibre to the Home.
It includes fiber-optic access solutions designed for residential deployments. In FTTH networks, fibers are directly connected to individual homes or multitenant buildings.
The Hyperhood network runs on GPON (Gigabit Passive Optical Networks) technology that can deliver up to 1 Gigabit per second to every home we pass. There is very little sharing, splitting, contention or shaping among residents on our network unlike many other infrastructure providers in South Africa who contend their networks heavily. We understand everyone is different and one size does not fit all. With GPON technology, it is possible to provide residents with a range of speeds and packages.
Currently HYPERHOOD is offering speeds between 10Mbps and 200Mbps available across multiple Internet Service Providers and packages.
In general, there are 2 types of designs for a FTTH deployment, namely Fibre to Fibre or the less popular Fibre to Copper. In providing an Open Access model on our network, it is imperative that the infrastructure is a Fibre to Fibre connection.
Fibre to Fibre is more cost competitive long term, more flexible, has higher security levels, provides adequate capacity to allow traffic from multiple TV providers, supports a simplified and cheaper installation process of customer equipment, facilitates flexible capacity management, allows for synchronous services, empowers end users to easily switch between service providers, enables different speed allocations in the network for various services and has a trouble-free process to introduce or upgrade services/providers to the network.
In terms of the network installed by Hyperhood, there are NO measures which are put in place to contend or shape an end user.
The ISP you choose to use may have an FUP (Fair Usage Policy) that could apply to the service you have selected. Please check with your ISP what may apply to you.
Yes!
In fact, Hyperhood only offers packages to the end client which are uncapped. There are no capped packages available on our network at this current time.
There are both month-to-month and longer term contracts. Most of the packages are month-to-month and give you the flexibility to change between service providers .
ISP's on Hyperhood's network will bill you directly for your Internet service. You will not pay Hyperhood at all.
With fibre being trenched infrastructure (Underground), it is highly unlikely that the fibre will get damaged. As a customer your queries and concerns are logged directly with your service provider of choice. The service provider is therefore responsible for the first line support and has access into the Hyperhood network to perform troubleshooting. If the service provider cannot resolve the issue, they will log the fault and escalate the matter to Hyperhood directly.
